Opened consultation on TC260 guideline regarding external vehicle data

On 24 June 2024, the National Information Security Standardisation Technical Committee (TC260) opened a public consultation on guidelines for external vehicle data, which remains open until 5 July 2024. The data collected by sensors, such as onboard cameras and radar, poses security risks as it is challenging to manage and often collected without the knowledge of data subjects. To address these concerns, the guidelines propose a one-click feature to disable all sensors, stipping data collection instantly. An external status indicator on the vehicle would inform management that data collection is paused, simplifying compliance. The aim of the Standard is to prevent unauthorised data collection and processing, enhance the security of personal information, and improve the use of intelligent driving assistance functions.
