Implemented order establishing list of prescribed intermediaries subject to Codes of Practice

On 7 March 2023, the Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act (POFMA) Office’s order establishing list of prescribed intermediaries subject to Codes of Practice entered into force. In particular, the Code of Practice for Giving Prominence to Credible Online Sources of Information applies to Google LLC (Google Search and YouTube), Meta Platforms (Facebook and Instagram), Twitter, WeChat International, Baidu and TikTok. The Code of Practice for Transparency of Online Political Advertisements applies to Google (Google Ads), Google LLC (Google Search and YouTube), Meta Platforms, Inc. (Audience Network, Facebook, and Instagram), Twitter, SPH Media (HardwareZone.com), WeChat International, Baidu and TikTok. The Code of Practice for Preventing and Countering Abuse of Online Accounts applies to Google LLC (YouTube), Meta Platforms (Facebook and Instagram), Twitter, SPH Media (HardwareZone.com), WeChat International and TikTok.
