On 17 June 2024, the African Union adopted the Continental Artificial Intelligence Strategy aimed at accelerating Africa’s digital transformation. Endorsed during a virtual session, the strategy aims to harness artificial intelligence's potential while promoting ethical use and addressing diverse challenges across education, health, agriculture, and governance. Led by the African Union, the strategy emphasises developing human capital, fostering innovation ecosystems, and creating a conducive regulatory environment. Additionally, it outlines a unified approach to leveraging digital technologies for sustainable development and economic growth throughout the continent.
