On 12 June 2024, the Korea Communications Commission (KCC) concluded its investigation into Apple Korea, finding the company in violation of the Location Information Act. The violations included inadequate disclosure of terms of use, non-compliance with specifications and consent related to location information policies, and insufficient managerial and technical protective measures. As a result, Apple Korea was fined KRW 210 million and received a penalty of KRW 12 million. The investigation is part of the KCC's efforts to enforce the 2022 amendments to the Location Information Act, aimed at enhancing user privacy protection against businesses with inadequate location information protection measures.
