On 12 June 2018, the National Assembly adopted the Law on Cybersecurity. The law includes cybersecurity measures, including the evaluation and assessment of cybersecurity conditions, regular inspections, and active supervision to ensure robust cybersecurity defences. Furthermore, the law outlines measures of responses to cybersecurity incidents, such as employing a range of tactics, including the use of cryptography, the enforcement of the cessation of operations or services that threaten security, and the legal requisition for the deletion or removal of harmful cyberspace content. In addition, it provides for the freezing or restriction of the operations of critical information systems. The law delineates a list of prohibited actions, including acts that oppose the State of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, distort historical facts, engage in offences against religion, gender discrimination, or racist acts, and incite cybercrimes, among others. The protection of information systems that are critical for national security is of significant importance. Furthermore, the prevention and resolution of cybersecurity violations, as well as the protective activities, are delineated.
