Brazil: Adopted MCTI order on establishment of the Operational Support Working Group for the Brazilian Artificial Intelligence Plan (No. 8,251)

On 7 June 2024, the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MCTI) adopted Ordinance MCTI No. 8,251, establishing the Operational Support Working Group. The group is tasked with advising and assisting in the formulation of the Brazilian Artificial Intelligence Plan (PBIA), which will be presented to the National Council of Science and Technology. The plan aims to promote the sustainable and ethical development of artificial intelligence (AI) in Brazil. The Working Group, comprising key members from the Ministry and advisors, will operate until 29 July 2024, focusing on drafting the PBIA to support advancements in machine learning and AI development at the national level.
