United States of America: Opened consultation on NCCoE Trusted Internet of Things (IoT) Device Network-Layer Onboarding and Lifecycle Management

On 31 May 2024, the US National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) opened a consultation on the Draft Trusted Internet of Things (IoT) Device Network-Layer Onboarding and Lifecycle Management until 30 July 2024. This draft aims to introduce scalable, automated, and trusted mechanisms for provisioning network credentials to IoT devices, enhancing their security from the onset of deployment and throughout their lifecycle. The consultation seeks input on proposed solutions that facilitate secure, efficient onboarding and management of IoT devices, addressing the challenges posed by the increasing number of IoT devices and the need for secure network access.
