On 1 December 1987, the Copyright Act (Act 658) entered into force. The Act defines the works eligible for copyright protection, namely literary works, musical works, artistic works, films, sound recordings, and broadcasts. The Act protects the author’s rights in respect to the original and derivative works. Further, the Act defines the scope and duration of copyright protection as well as who can be eligible to hold the copyright. The Act also defines the licensing of copyright and establishes the Copyright Tribunal to hear conflict in relation to the Act.
