European Union: Signed CNMC-European Commission MoU to create a joint investigation team to supervise large digital platforms

Description

Signed CNMC-European Commission MoU to create a joint investigation team to supervise large digital platforms

On 6 June 2024, the National Markets and Competition Commission (CNMC) and the European Commission signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enable collaboration between their staff through joint research teams within the framework of the Digital Markets Act (DMA). The DMA ensures that large online platforms, acting as gatekeepers, conduct business fairly, without imposing unfair conditions on companies and end users, and maintain the open nature of their digital services. This MoU establishes cooperation between the CNMC and the European Commission, allowing CNMC staff to participate in the European Commission's projects, initiatives, and research teams, particularly when Spanish markets are affected.
