Announced UOKIK investigation into anti-competitive practices in technological consumer goods sector (Xiaomi)

On 28 May 2024, the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) announced the initiation of an investigation into possible anti-competitive practices in the sale of Xiaomi equipment. This action follows concerns that the prices of Xiaomi's technological consumer goods may have been unlawfully fixed as a result of an agreement between Xiaomi Polska and two of its distributors. The investigation, which is not targeted at specific entrepreneurs but rather at the practice itself, was prompted by a search conducted at the offices of the involved entities. The ongoing analysis of the collected evidence aims to determine if there has been a violation of anti-competitive agreements regulation, potentially leading to antitrust proceedings.
