Published G7 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors’ Communiqué including considerations on Artificial Intelligence

On 25 May 2024, the Group of Seven (G7) Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors published a communiqué that included considerations on Artificial Intelligence (AI). The communiqué stated that AI brings significant potential for economic growth but also poses risks to society. The Finance Ministers agreed to advance the discussion on AI's economic potential and how to leverage AI to increase productivity and growth while supporting a human-centred approach and enhancing well-being. Additionally, the Finance Ministers agreed to share experiences and central banks to establish a common G7 perspective on leveraging the potential of AI while closely monitoring and mitigating its adverse effects and risks.
