Italy: Issued request for information and comments in Agcom investigation into Meta regarding possible altered visibility of content

On 22 May 2024, the Italian Communications Regulatory Authority (Agcom) issued a request for information and comments to Meta as part of an investigation into the company's possible alteration of content visibility. Allegedly, Meta has implemented policies aimed at controlling political, social, and civic information, resulting in altered visibility of content for users on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads. Additionally, the specific methods by which Meta makes these decisions are unknown. Consequently, AGCOM decided to send a request for information and comments regarding these reported issues to Meta.
