Published Internet Information Office warnings regarding online rumors

On 27 May 2024, the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) issued warnings about online rumours. The CAC highlighted that certain online accounts have been speculating about and fabricating public policies, sudden incidents, and rumours related to social livelihood. The Internet Information Office has directed website platforms to intensify their monitoring and disposal efforts, trace the sources of these rumours promptly, and close the accounts responsible for initially spreading them. Since the beginning of this year, a total of 10’859 illegal and irregular accounts have been addressed.
