Description

Launched Data Protection Trustmark Certification Scheme

On 23 July 2018, the Singapore Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) launched an open call for organisations to participate in a pilot for Singapore’s Data Protection Trustmark (DPTM) certification. The goal of the certification is safe and transparent data protection practices among Singapore-based organisations. The call for participation was started to finalise the DPTM framework, which allows certified organisations to use and display the DPTM logo in their business communication as long as they hold the certification, which should fortify trust and confidence in organisations by consumers. The IMDA has appointed three independent assessment bodies for the DPTM certification scheme: ISOCert, Setsco Services, and TUV SUD PSB. These bodies will evaluate whether applicants’ data protection practices comply with DPTM certification requirements developed by the PDPC and will help identify any gaps that need to be addressed. The DPTM certification is available to all organisations based in Singapore.
