Announced Data Protection Authority draft guidelines on processing personal data in medical research without consent

On 21 May 2024, the Italian Data Protection Authority (DPA) issued the draft guidelines on processing personal data in medical research without consent. The draft guidelines introduce new ethical rules for processing personal data in medical research when patient consent isn't feasible to obtain. The guidelines would require an Ethics Committee's opinion, documented reasons, and published impact assessments.
