Russia: Drafted Bill on the collection and storage of industrial data including data protection authority governance

On 22 May 2024, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade published a draft of a Bill on the collection and storage of industrial data in order to safeguard data of strategic importance. The Bill lays out a procedure for collecting, storing, and using industrial data and provides for a legal exchange of data and the conditions for its circulation. Further, the Bill requires the industrial data subject to submit a notification of work to the competence centre for industrial data, which will also monitor the data subjects' activities. The competence centres will oversee compliance and develop national standards.
