Introduced Bill amending Act CVIII of 2001 on certain issues of electronic commerce services and information society services including content moderation requirements

On 23 April 2024, the Bill amending the Act CVIII of 2001 on certain issues of electronic commerce services and information society services was introduced in the Hungarian Parliament. The Bill includes content moderation requirements. Specifically, service providers would be mandated to establish an easily accessible, transparent, and user-friendly electronic system on their websites to facilitate the reporting and removal of content that infringes upon the privacy rights of minors. Additionally, internet service providers would be required to offer internet filtering services (referred to as safe services for minors) capable of blocking access to pornographic websites upon parental request. Furthermore, advertising bans targeting children would be implemented for products that pose risks to life, health, or physical integrity.
