Malaysia: Adopted Personal Data Protection (Class of Data Users) Order 2013

On 14 November 2013, the Ministry of Communications and Digital (MCD) adopted the Personal Data Protection (Class of Data Users) Order 2013. The order is based on section 14 of the Persona Data Protection Act 2010 (Act 709) and lists the groups of data users which must register with the Personal Data Protection Commissioner in the Register of Data Users. Specifically, the order defines the user classes for the areas of communications, banking and financial institutions, insurance, health, tourism and hospitalities, transportation, education, direct selling, services, real estate and utilities.
