Announced Hiroshima AI Process Friends Group

On 2 May 2024, the Japan Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) issued an update on the adoption of more than 40 countries of the Hiroshima AI Process Comprehensive Policy Framework, establishing the Hiroshima AI Process Friends Group. The Framework, initiated in May 2023 following the G7 Hiroshima Summit, was established to address the rapid development of generative AI and discuss measures to ensure the safe, secure, and trustworthy development of AI. The signatory countries committed to implementing the Hiroshima Process International Code of Conduct for Organizations Developing Advanced AI Systems. The Code of Conduct is based on the International Guiding Principles for Organisations Developing Advanced AI Systems, which aims to promote the trustworthy development and use of AI as well as the responsible governance of AI. The Code of Conduct lists 11 actions developers should follow to mitigate the risks related to advanced AI systems.
