On 30 April 2024, an Act requiring online platforms to label political advertisements and amending the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 (HR 8172) was introduced into the US Congress. The Act requires social media platforms displaying political advertisements to disclose through a notice or label who paid for them. Further, when an ad is shared or reposted, the notice should continue to be presented in the advertisement
