Opened consultation on NIST's Plan for Global Engagement on AI Standards (NIST AI 100-5)

On 29 April 2024, the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) opened a public consultation for A Plan for Global Engagement on AI Standards (NIST AI 100-5) until 2 June 2024. This draft plan supports the Executive Order 14110 on the Safe, Secure, and Trustworthy Development and Use of Artificial Intelligence, aiming to promote responsible AI practices globally and prevent exacerbating inequities or threatening human rights. The draft plan setes out priorities in relation to the development of technical standards for AI, including, for example, the respective importance of standardisation regarding terminology, risk management, and transparency. The consultation on the draft plan invites stakeholders to provide feedback on NIST's prioritisation and to give additional ideas or information where needed.
