Description

Launched Central Cyberspace Administration national campaign on clearness and combating illegal information external links

On 28 April 2024, the Central Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) initiated a two-month national campaign titled "Cleaning Up and Combating Illegal Information External Links". The operation focuses on correcting issues in eight key areas susceptible to illegal information external links, including account avatars, comment sections, group circles, live broadcasts, life services, browsers, e-commerce, and sections involving minors. The campaign addresses the rapid spread and cross-platform presence of illegal information external links. The CAC stated that it would investigate accounts, groups, and platforms to create a deterrent effect. Additionally, a cross-platform working mechanism will be established to exchange updates on issues with illegal external links and enhance the effectiveness of joint efforts to eliminate the environment that promote such links.
