Announced CNIL inquiry into data processing in the health field

On 26 April 2024, the National Commission on Informatics and Liberty (CNIL) announced its inquiry into health standards. It will initiate a consultation process starting 16 May 2024 to gather input from stakeholders involved in health data research and processing. The CNIL aims to update and create new standards to adapt to evolving regulations, technological advancements like artificial intelligence, and the changing landscape of health research due to factors such as the health crisis. Stakeholders, including researchers, health professionals, entrepreneurs, and data protection officers, will be invited to respond to a questionnaire to identify priorities for updating standards. Participants will have two months to contribute their insights. A webinar on 21 May 2024 will provide further information and address questions regarding the consultation process. The results of the consultation will guide the formation of working groups to collectively develop future standards in collaboration with the Health Data Platform and relevant stakeholders.
