India: Released National Data Governance Policy including data protection regulation

On 26 May 2022, the Digital India Corporation, under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), released the National Data Governance Framework Policy (NDGFP) containing data governance regulation. The policy applies to all non-personal datasets and data platforms, establishing a comprehensive framework for researchers and start-ups to access and use. The policy aims to create a large repository of Indian datasets. The NDGFP sets forth guidelines, rules, and standards for building and accessing anonymised non-personal data.
