India: Released National Data Governance Policy including measures for establishment of Data Management Office

On 26 May 2022, the Digital India Corporation, under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), released the National Data Governance Framework Policy (NDGFP), establishing the India Data Management Office (IDMO). The IDMO will be tasked with developing, managing, and revising policies related to data use. This includes setting up rules, standards, and guidelines to facilitate access to anonymised non-personal data to support AI and data-led research and start-up ecosystems.
