European Union: Adopted European Commission Recommendation on a Coordinated Implementation Roadmap for the transition to Post-Quantum Cryptography

On 11 April 2024, the European Commission adopted a recommendation on a coordinated implementation roadmap for the transition to post-quantum cryptography. The recommendation aims to ensure a coordinated and synchronised transition towards post-quantum cryptography across Member States to ensure cybersecurity across the Union's critical digital infrastructures and services. The recommendation outlines the creation of a “post-quantum cryptography coordinated implementation roadmap” to facilitate this transition. It focuses on synchronising efforts to design and implement national transition plans, ensuring cross-border interoperability, and supporting the evaluation and selection of relevant post-quantum cryptography EU algorithms.
