Adopted Walker Montgomery Protecting Children Online Act including Content Moderation Requirements (HB 1126)

On 8 April 2024, the Walker Montgomery Protecting Children Online Act was adopted by the Senate. The act imposes content moderation obligations on digital service providers, particularly concerning material deemed harmful to minors. Providers must develop a strategy and implement measures to prevent minors' exposure to such content, including material related to suicide, self-harm, substance abuse, bullying, sexual exploitation, violence, and other illegal activities. If the Act becomes law after being sent to the Governor, it will enter into effect on 1 July 2024.
