United States of America: Introduced Sexual Explicit Digital Image Act (HB 4623) in Illinois to combat child pornography

On 31 January 2024, the Sexual Explicit Digital Image Act (HB 4623) was introduced to the Illinois House of Representatives. The Act aims to combat child exploitation through the obscene depiction of a child and amends the definition of "child pornography" to also include images that were manipulated, created or modified with a computer program in a way to simulate sexual activity. The Act also introduces criminal penalties for the dissemination of sexual images.
