Implemented Decree-law n.123 on safety of minors in the digital environment including data protection regulation

On 29 February 2024, the Decree-law n.123 on safety of minors in the digital environment including data protection regulation, entered into force. The decree aims to ensure the protection of personal data collected or generated during the activation of applications in electronic communication devices. It requires that such data may not be used for commercial purposes or profiling. The decree also mandates electronic communications service providers to send a communication to their customers regarding the possibility and importance of installing the applications for parental controls on the devices already in use.
