Adopted Commitment in EU-Korea Digital Partnership Council

On 30 June 2023, the European Union (EU) and the Republic of Korea (ROK) adopted commitments following the first EU-Korea Digital Partnership Council. The parties agreed to cooperate on emerging technologies for the sustainable advance of both economies. The parties will work on semiconductors, high-performance computing (HPC), quantum technology, 5G and beyond, platform economy, artificial intelligence (AI), and cybersecurity. Specifically, the two countries decided to establish an ROK-EU Forum for Semiconductor Researchers to promote research in this area and agreed to jointly work on developing applications for cases of common interest in the field of HPC. Further, the EU and ROK will define a common vision for 6G, increase their cooperation around AI and further foster cooperation concerning cybersecurity. The next Council meeting is planned for early 2024.
