United States of America: Implemented Artificial Intelligence Policy Act including AI authority governance (SB0149)

On 1 May 2024, the Artificial Intelligence Policy Act entered into force. The Act establishes the Office of Artificial Intelligence Policy within the Department of Commerce. The Office is tasked with overseeing an artificial intelligence learning laboratory program, consulting with stakeholders, establishing rules for the laboratory program, and reporting annually to the Business and Labor Interim Committee. Specifically, the learning laboratory program, which the Office oversees, analyses AI regulation and proposes legislation.
