On 20 March 2024, the Competition Bureau of Canada published a discussion paper and initiated a public consultation on artificial intelligence (AI) and its impact on competition in Canada until 4 May 2024. The discussion paper outlines information on the development of competition in AI markets, the Bureau's role in protecting and promoting competition in AI markets, and its preparedness to address competitive harm from AI. The Bureau seeks feedback from businesses operating in AI markets and individuals with expertise or experience in AI technologies regarding monopolistic practices, cartels, deceptive marketing practices and measures that regulators could implement to promote competition.
