Issued Roskomnadzor report on blocked content following investigation into illegal content displayed during the pre-election period

On 19 March 2024, the Russian Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) announced that it had removed more than 4'800 links containing calls for allegedly extremist and terrorist activities, materials from organisations deemed to be extremist and those aimed at disrupting the elections. Additionally, more than 1'400 materials calling for participation in uncoordinated mass actions were removed or blocked, and access to 1'800 materials insulting the President was limited. Furthermore, 1'700 materials containing non-state published information related to the elections, non-governmental websites, and accounts of the Central Election Commission and election commissions of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation were removed. As part of media monitoring, the Roskomnadzor identified 103 materials that violate the electoral legislation, resulting in 3 protocols on administrative offences under Art. 5.5 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation.
