Implemented Artificial Intelligence Task Force Act (SB 5838)

On 18 March 2024, the Artificial Intelligence Bill (SB 5838) entered into force on the day os its signing into law by the Governor of the State of Washington/ The Bill establishes a task force to assess current uses and trends of artificial intelligence (AI) and make recommendations to the legislature regarding guidelines and potential legislation for the use of AI systems. The task force is composed of an executive committee with members from various sectors, including the Senate, House of Representatives, the office of the governor, the office of the attorney general, Washington Technology Solutions, the Washington state auditor, universities or research institutions, private technology industry groups or business associations, community advocate organisations, statewide labour organisations, and public safety.
