Introduced AI Consent Act including data protection regulation (SB 3975)

On 19 March 2024, the Artificial Intelligence Consumer Opt-in, Notification, Standards, and Ethical Norms for Training (AI Consent Act/SB 3975) was introduced to the United States Senate. In particular, the Act would require the Federal Trade Commission to adopt regulations to mandate online platforms to obtain the express and informed consent of consumers before using or selling personal data to train Artificial Intelligence (AI) models. Furthermore, the Act provides disclosure standards as well as details on how platforms can obtain consumer consent.
