On 11 March 2024, Law No. 42-FZ entered into force following its signing into law on the same day. The law, previously Bill no. 553750-8, imposes a ban on advertising on platforms owned by media entities designated as foreign. The law also prohibits Russian entities, including websites, social networks, and blogs, from accepting advertisements from these foreign agents. In case of non-compliance with the ban, the entities face penalties, including imprisonment for up to 2 years.
