Announced notifications from Booking as potential gatekeeper under the Digital Markets Act

On 4 March 2024, the European Commission received notification from Booking indicating that its core platform service potentially meets the Digital Markets Act (DMA) thresholds. The Commission now has until 13 May 2024 to decide whether to designate Booking as gatekeeper. If designated, Booking will have six months to comply with the DMA's requirements. The DMA rules apply to companies operating core platform services, such as search engines, app stores, and messenger services, that have 45 million monthly active end users and 10'000 yearly business users.
