Vietnam: Announced Ministry of Public Security Proposal for the Development of Personal Data Protection Law

On 29 February 2024, the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam announced that it would draft a proposal for a law on personal data protection. This initiative aims to address the absence of legal regulations concerning personal data and its protection in the country. The inquiry will focus on unifying the terminology surrounding personal data across legal documents, defining the rights and obligations of data subjects, enhancing regulations on personal data protection during data processing, and completing regulations to ensure conditions and measures for personal data protection.
