Colombia: Passed Law (059/23) on Public Policy Guidelines for AI including Data Protection Regulation

On 14 November 2023, the Colombian Senate passed a law establishing public policy guidelines for the development, use, and implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) (059/23). The law includes provisions for data protection, requiring those responsible for the use, implementation, and development of AI to inform data subjects about the handling of their data and the results obtained. It also mandates that cybersecurity issues involving AI should be endorsed by the Commission on Data Processing and Artificial Intelligence Developments.
