Colombia: Introduced Law (059/23) on Public Policy Guidelines for AI including AI Authority

On 1 August 2023, a law was introduced to the Colombian Senate to establish public policy guidelines for the development, use, and implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) (059/23). The law proposes principles for AI, including human authority, common good, cooperation, safe design, prevalence of human intelligence, and preventive research. It also proposes the establishment of the Data Processing and Artificial Intelligence Developments Commission, which would have various functions related to AI developments and implementation.
