Description

Introduced Bill to regulate AI systems, robotics, and related technologies (Bill 15869-19) including authorisation requirement

On 26 April 2023, the Bill to regulate AI systems, robotics, and related technologies (Bill 15869-19), including authorisation requirements, was introduced to the Chamber of Deputies of Chile. The Bill requires developers, suppliers, and users of Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems to seek authorisation prior to the commencement of the development, marketing, distribution, and use of these systems in Chilean territory. The Bill classifies AI systems into "unacceptable risk" and "high risk'" with the former not being approved for use. For high-risk systems, the Commission will request the applicant to comply with certain requirements prior to authorisation.
