On 26 April 2023, the Bill to regulate AI systems, robotics, and related technologies (Bill 15869-19) establishing the AI Commission was introduced to the Chamber of Deputies of Chile. The Bill establishes a legal framework for the development, commercialisation, distribution, and use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems. The Bill proposes the creation of a National Commission on Artificial Intelligence, responsible for ruling on authorisation applications submitted by developers, providers, and users of AI systems, developing recommendations to improve AI regulation, producing an annual report on AI systems, maintaining a registry of AI systems, and ruling on serious incidents or malfunctions.
