Implemented Beijing Cross-Border Data Transfer Regulation

On 9 January 2024, the Beijing administration implemented a cross-border data transfer regulation. The regulation, which was first introduced by the Cyberspace Administration of China on 1 September 2022, provides a framework for data outbound security assessments. Beijing implemented this system with 117 enterprises and institutions, including both domestic and international companies, officially submitting data export security assessment application materials. The regulation aims to promote international cooperation in the digital field and improve the efficiency of data export, thereby facilitating the high-quality development of the digital economy.
