Announced Settlement with Shopgala for Alleged Consumer Data Misuse

On 22 February 2024, the Pennsylvania Attorney General (AG) announced a settlement with lead generator Shopgala, LLC, which operates as Surveys2cash. The company is accused of selling Pennsylvanians' information to telemarketing companies without clear disclosures. The AG claimed that Shopgala acquired consumer data by offering free samples or paid surveys. The settlement permanently prohibits Shopgala from selling or sharing consumer data unless it complies with the Federal Telemarketing Sales Rule. The company must pay USD 25’000 to the Office of the Attorney General for public protection and educational purposes.
