On 27 February 2024, the governments of Australia, Canada, Czechia, Finland, France, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America issued a joint statement endorsing Principles for 6G Development, Secure, Open, and Resilient by Design. The principles note the importance of global industry-led and inclusive standard setting, international collaborations, and the promotion of open, secure, resilient, and interoperable networks. The principles also encourage the use of innovative technologies such as virtualisation and software-defined networking in the development of 6G technologies.
