Announced Economic Competition Authority investigation into e-commerce platform Temu over alleged unfair commercial practices

On 27 February 2024, the Hungarian Economic Competition Authority (GVH) opened an investigation into the e-commerce platform Temu over alleged unfair commercial practices. The GVH stated that it would evaluate the complaints it had received and collect detailed data to determine whether the conditions for opening a formal competition investigation are met. The GVH also stated that Temu’s practices may violate the prohibition of unfair commercial practices, such as deception, incomplete information, and aggressive commercial practices.
