On 19 January 2024, the Hawaii Artificial Intelligence Safety and Regulation Act (SB 2572) was introduced to the Hawaii Senate. The Act specifies that entities would not be permitted to deploy artificial intelligence products within the State unless they have obtained prior written approval from the office. The Act establishes the Office of Artificial Intelligence Safety and Regulation within the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, which will have the power to assess the documents submitted to ensure the product's safety.
