Adopted Decree-Law No. 20-B/2024 designating competent authorities and coordinator under the Digital Service Act

On 8 February 2024, the Council of Ministers adopted the Decree-Law No. 20-B/2024, designating competent authorities and coordinator under the Digital Service Act. The decree designates the National Communications Authority (ANACOM) as the competent authority and coordinator of digital services in Portugal. The Media Regulatory Authority and the General Inspectorate of Cultural Activities are also designated as competent authorities in matters of media and copyright, respectively. The authorities are tasked with ensuring the impartial, transparent, and timely exercise of their functions and overseeing the implementation and enforcement of the DSA obligations. The decree enters into force the following day of its publication in the Official Gazette.
