Published DIA findings following investigations into illegal CSAM material available online

On 20 February 2024, the Department of Internal Affairs of New Zealand (DIA) published the findings following the Digital Child Exploitation Team (DCET) investigations into illegal material available online, including child sexual abuse material (CSAM). The DIA stated that from January to December 2023, the DCET conducted 47 investigations, which resulted in the discovery of 2’966’773 pieces of illegal material and the seizure of 209 devices. Further, the investigation resulted in the blocking of 1’149’570 websites for hosting CSAM material.
