On 1 February 2024, the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), along with her counterparts from various departments, sent letters to regulators requesting them to publish an update by 30 April 2024 outlining their strategic approach to Artificial intelligence (AI) and the steps they are taking in line with the expectations in the AI Regulation White Paper. The request was not limited to the main digital regulators forming the Digital Regulation Cooperation Forum (DRCF) but also included regulators responsible for healthcare, finance, education, and the enforcement of human rights. The aim of this request was to increase transparency around the implementation of the AI regulation proposals and increase transparency.
